Are you an experienced restaurant with rooms professional with a passion for great service, exceptional drinks and creating a vibrant atmosphere? The Penny Bun, is looking for a dynamic and charismatic General Manager to lead and motivate our team.

Working closely with the Denton Reserve General Manager and our Operational Manager you will be responsible for leading a dedicated team, delivering outstanding customer service, and maintaining the highest standards. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with strong leadership skills, a passion for the hospitality industry, and a commitment to creating memorable experiences for our guests.

The Penny Bun is a reimagined country inn and restaurant in Askwith, near Ilkley. We serve British food and drinks in the heart of Yorkshire, with a field-to-fork approach using produce from the estate and walled garden at Denton Reserve.

We are a small team with big aspirations to achieve industry accreditations and accolades that recognise our passion for celebrating seasonal, local produce. In the first year of opening, we have secured a range of press articles in national and regional publications and achieved 100’s of positive 5* reviews and gaining a reputation we are very proud of.

The Penny Bun is part of Denton Reserve – a 2,500-acre estate and purpose-led project combatting climate change through carbon capture, improving biodiversity and sustainable food production.

What you'll be doing as GM at The Penny Bun

• Manage the restaurant, bar and five bedrooms, oversee daily operations and ensuring smooth service at pace, whilst maintaining high standards.
• Assist in recruiting, training, and managing a team, inspiring them and ensuring they deliver excellent customer service and maintain a positive work environment.
• Have a passion for food and create a welcoming atmosphere and memorable experiences for our guests.
• Collaborate with the Ops Manager to develop and implement strategies to increase sales, gain 5* reviews and maintain excellent customer satisfaction
• Monitor stock levels, keep track of stock usage and place orders when required.
• Work closely with the management team to implement new ideas that enhance the guest experience and drive business growth.
• Deliver the weekly budgeted payroll % through detailed rota planning

About you, our new General manager at The Penny Bun

• Proven experience in a management role within a high-end restaurant or the hospitality industry manager in a high-end venue.
• Advantageous if you have previous experience in a similar venue with accolades
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, manage and develop a diverse team.
• Positive and friendly attitude, with a willingness to work collaboratively with the team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, bringing the front of house and kitchen together as one team.
• Proficient in using restaurant management software and POS systems
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions under pressure.
• A passion for delivering exceptional customer service and creating a positive experience for guests.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
